From Pat

In May of this year, I was careless and insensitive in repeating a phrase I had previously heard to advocates. I used it during a frank discussion about how opponents were likely to characterize the bill and the debate that advocates should be prepared for. I shouldn’t have repeated it. Even if it was unintentional, that doesn’t matter — I needed to be more considerate.

I’m a strong supporter of A.101. I was during the last legislative session, and I am now.

Throughout my career, I have been a fierce advocate for the protection of victims of sexual abuse, as well as holding abusers – and the institutions that cover up their crimes – accountable. I stood up to the Catholic Diocese and fought for the Child Victims Act. I supported the Rape is Rape Act. I have called for fully funded State Police campus sexual assault response teams. And this week I announced legislation to hold institutions accountable when they cover up rape and other crimes. I’ll always work to support and protect victims and their fight for justice.
