Independence, Integrity, Vision

When I was elected to the Erie County Legislature, people told me it didn't matter because "county legislators don't get anything done." Since taking office 4 years ago, I have made it my mission to prove otherwise.

When billions of microbeads were polluting Lake Erie, I pushed for a microbead ban in Erie County. Not only did it pass with bipartisan support, it sparked a federal ban to protect America's water supply. Since then my office has continued to advocate for water quality in our region as well as other issues that impact the lives of constituents.

I have fought to ensure the pharmaceutical industry pays its fair share when it comes to keeping our drinking water safe, made sure our children remain healthy and safe by authoring legislation to ban smoking in the car with kids as well as a bill to protect youth from concussions in sports. I've fought against the monopoly power of Time Warner Cable by proposing the implementation of the Erie County Broadband Network, worked to cut down on the blight of zombie housing in our communities, and pushed for the Mimosa Resolution- which changed the antiquated Sunday Blue Laws barring the sale of alcohol before noon on Sundays.

I am deeply committed to our community, and to crafting policies that make sense to keep our families and children safe, our environment healthy, and our economy vibrant.
