Protecting The Great Lakes and Our Environment

Protecting The great lakes and our environment is a top priority for Patrick. He has sponsored a bill to give rights to the Great lakes, which will protect the integrity of the great lakes and our environment. Patrick understands that the time is now to pass legislation. it is Patrick’s hopes that The great lakes bill of rights would provide an enforcement mechanism for polluters to be held accountable.

Other environmental legislation that patrick has been involved with includes sponsoring legislation to create a commission to craft a plan to eliminate single-use plastic in NYS, co-sponsoring and voting for the historic climate leadership and community protection act, which requires 100% clean power by 2040.

Patrick was recently appointed by Speaker Carl e. Heastie to lead the great lakes watershed task force. His goals for this task force include forming a bipartisan committee of elected officials who represent the watershed region on the taskforce. as the task force chair, Patrick will schedule meetings, communicate with stakeholders, and develop an initial policy document about the blue economy before the end of the year. Patrick is also a member of the committee on Environmental conservation

This Past August, Patrick announced that he secured $1 million dollars in funding for the West Seneca and orchard park school districts. this money will allow the school districts to make upgrades necessary to keeping our children safe in schools. a parent himself, Patrick knows that keeping our children safe is a top priority for all.
